The Night the House Went Silent — Free Opening
An old accusation is about to become an exhibition label. The archive tells a more complicated story.
Belwick, 2026. Julia is preparing an arts venue’s farewell exhibition. Eighteen years earlier, James was accused of leaving its opening concert with the takings. Examine the records together and establish what the recording actually proves before the accusation goes on the wall again.
This free opening comes from the same investigation as the full case in development. It includes the first evidence packet, two deductions, optional hints and the recording continuation those deductions uncover. The full paid case is not available to buy yet.
Download and preparation
English print-and-play for two adults; solo testing is also welcome. No secret roles, acting or game master. The ZIP now contains just three PDFs:
- 00_READ_FIRST.pdf — setup, opening order and the two questions. Start here; it can stay on a screen.
- 01_PRINT_Opening.pdf — print all 15 pages once, A4, actual size / 100%, single-sided. This includes 13 evidence sides and two bundle covers. Join pages 11 and 12 back-to-back with glue or tape to make one two-sided admission record. Scissors, a pencil and shared note paper are also needed.
- 04_HELP_Only_if_needed.pdf — optional hints and answer checks, with bookmarks. Keep it on a screen and open only your current question.
Sort the printout into A (pages 1–12) and B (pages 13–15). The printed covers mark when to open them; keep B closed until checking O2. The photographs are already included, so there is no extra folder or alternative print route to choose. Trim the smaller objects where marked; envelopes are optional.
The intended 20–30-minute playtime is not yet measured. Printing, cutting and preparation take additional time and money. No purchase, donation or positive review is requested. This is the opening only; the full case is not included.
Useful feedback
Did you play alone or together? How long did preparation and play take? Where did you stop or use help? Which specific clue changed your explanation? If two people played, what did each person contribute? Mark spoilers in replies. Saying where and why you stopped is useful too.
Fiction and AI disclosure
Fictional people, events, documents and photographs. AI was used to generate and develop the writing, puzzles, build code and fictional images. No AI runs during play. Recordings are transcripts, not audio. No graphic violence or relationship exercises.
